As a director and the founding member of Nurizon, Stefan draws on a wealth of experience in the planning, design and management of civil infrastructure projects in the mining and airports sectors. Stefan graduated with a degree in civil engineering (BEng) from the University of Pretoria in 1997 and is a registered Professional Engineer with ECSA (Pr.Eng), as well as a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers in the UK (CEng).
As a Director of Nurizon with a degree in mining engineering (BSc) and a strong managerial background, John has a proven track record of successfully delivering full lifecycle contracts within compressed timeframes and within budget. He has extensive local and international, cross-sector contracting experience which is invaluable in risk mitigation, implementation and execution of complex projects. Coupled with this John has a strong strategic appreciation and understanding of a client’s business needs.
Outside of the office, John enjoys adventure racing and hunting.
A senior engineer within the airports division at Nurizon, Kevin has specialised within the airport engineering and aviation sectors since graduating from Nottingham University (UK) in 2003 with a master’s degree in civil engineering. His planning, design and project management experience includes a mixture of large scale airport engineering projects in the UK and more recently, South Africa and the wider African environment. Kevin was the airfield design team leader on the London Heathrow Terminal 2A project (scheme design) and a design engineer on Heathrow Terminal 5C. He was also involved in the upgrade of Waterkloof Air Force Base and World Cup projects at OR Tambo International Airport.
Outside of work Kevin enjoys spending time with his family (including his two border collies), mountain biking, crossfit, squash and photography.
Dirk is a professionally registered engineer with ECSA (Pr.Eng) and a senior engineer within the mining division at Nurizon and draws on 20 years’ of experience in the civil engineering infrastructure design field. Dirk is also a senior structural engineer and has extensive experience in the design and construction of reinforced concrete and steel structures, bridges and building renovation. His experience as a civil engineer extends to township services, bulk water supply systems and petrochemical installations.
Dirk enjoys mountain biking and is a keen photographer outside of the office.
Michael is a civil and geotechnical Engineer with 10 years’ design and project management experience. Michael gained his experience through the successful implementation of various civil infrastructure, water and geotechnical related projects, as well as contract/construction management spanning various sectors including, mining, aviation, industrial and municipal related. Michael obtained his degrees from the University of Pretoria and is also a registered professional engineer with ECSA.
Outside of work Michael enjoys mountain biking.
Heiner is a senior engineer within Nurizon’s geometric design team. Since graduating from the University of Pretoria in 2006 he has gained experience in design, contract management and contract administration aspects of roads, airports, mining and optic fibre infrastructure projects from conception through to completion.
Pierre is a senior cost manager within the Nurizon team and is responsible for the company’s project capital and expenditure modelling, ranging from 350 million (US) dollar projects to medium-scale client budgets. Pierre draws on considerable and varied past financial and operational management experience in the mining, airports, construction and healthcare sectors and has worked in both South Africa and the UK. Pierre is a University of Pretoria graduate with a BCom degree in financial management.
In his down time, Pierre enjoys travelling, going to the movies, news and actuality.
Johan is a Professional Engineer with extensive experience in the design and project management of electrical engineering projects. He has worked on various types of projects including underground and overhead reticulation networks; switching/satellite substations; feasibility studies; bulk applications (for residential, industrial/commercial developments, wind farms and concentrated solar power projects); normalisation, upgrading and refurbishment of medium voltage overhead lines; Gautrain (underground section); street, area, flood and high mast lighting; pump stations (including telemetry and SCADA), asset registers and maintenance plans. Johan completed projects for private, local government and parastatals clients and was also the commercial lead on tenders such as Vale Nacala Corridor Section 06 & 07 (584km rail line), Procter & Gamble - Global Facilities EPCM Service and the Lesotho Highlands (LHDA) Water Project Phase 2 - PMU bid.
Gerhard draws on over 15 years’ of experience in the cadastral, topographical, engineering and surface mining survey industry. Since 2007 he became heavily involved in optic fibre solutions, particularly as the widespread install of fibre infrastructure across South Africa advanced to connect the country to major submarine cables. Through a professional relationship between Gerhard’s company, Simply Survey and Nurizon our teams can offer an integrated project service delivery for fibre network routing and infrastructure design, site layout, as-built drawings and the collection of field data through the use of cutting-edge survey equipment technologies.
Ronny is a specialist engineering consultant within the mining industry. He has 30+ years’ of experience in mining, mine production, mining related education and project management. Ronny joined the University of Pretoria as a senior lecturer in the Department of Mining Engineering, responsible for all mine environmental engineering related subjects, dissertation projects and mine design in 1997. He subsequently obtained his master's degree in mining engineering and completed his PhD in mechanical engineering, specialising in the energy optimisation of ventilation, cooling and pumping requirements for hot mines. He was appointed head of the Department of Mining Engineering in 2007. Ronny is a registered professional engineer with ECSA (Pr.Eng) and a fellow of the Association of Mine Ventilation of South Africa. He also serves on the International Society of Mining Professors (SOMP) as an executive member for Africa and was recently appointed as the President Elect for the 2013-2014 term of SOMP. Ronny is also a member of the Professional Advisory Committee for Mining for ECSA.

Llewellyn has extensive experience in electrical engineering design, automation, data management, communication, project management and IT software development. He has worked on both large scale projects, e.g. Waxes plant in Sasol, and small integration projects in various industries; and extensively with Nurizon on mining-related projects. Llewellyn also specialises in biometric systems consultation and design.
